  1. “‎There are dreamers and there are realists in this world, you think the dreamers would find the dreamers and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not the opposite is true. See the dreamers need the realists to keep the dreamers from soaring too close to the sun. And the realists? Well without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground”Rana Waseem@ You have been very inspiring and i really needed that motivation, thanks alot! And i got an email from HW which says that i can apply for the masters program! And I'm also in contact with some universities in the UK. I can get admission in either msc structural engineering program or msc civil engineering(With concentration or specialization in structural engineering)... ( i may have to do a PGD first depends on my experience ) but 'I CAN' . And i can also get registered at IET and ICE (UK). So yeah i am gonna move to either uk or uae as soon as i get my honours degree or do it through distant learning and enter this field no matter what! In the mean time i am buying books and tutorials on etabs etc, studying american and British building codes and standards. And i am in contact with some structural engineers, trying to find someone who can may be give me home tuition or something all i want is to learn. Wish me luck guys and thanks everyone! And I'd really appreciate it, if you guys could help me and guide me to my passion!
  2. Eid Mubarak! Wishing everybody a peaceful and blessed Eid!
  3. And whats your take on distant learning from hw? Whats the full duration and how does it work? Is it difficult? Cause hw dubai campus doesnt offer ms in SE! Should i take admission in some other university in uae or go for distant learning? And is it possible for me to enter structural engineering field in pakistan while i am doing my btech. I am not asking for a job or a salary. All i am asking for is experience. I really wanna start my career from this field. Do you know any firms in islamabad where i can do that? AND NOW I REALLY FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEGUN MY JOURNEY! Thanks a million Rana waseem and Waqar saleem!
  4. I have emailed them *fingers crossed* hoping for a good news anyways this is their eligibility criteria, i cant figure out if i am eligible. What do you guys think? And the second paragraph is a little reassuring! Normal entry qualification is a good university degree (usually a UK 2:2 Honours or equivalent) in a relevant subject including engineering, environmental science, geography, geology, mathematics, etc. It is recognised that good practitioners may not have this entry level qualification; consequently, consideration will be given to relevant professional and field experiences and candidates that show promise will be admitted for the programme.
  5. Thanks but i wasnt talking about pakistan! i cant even do ms in structural engineering abroad(like uae or uk) after b.tech(hons)..
  6. Hey guys i got loads of info here but i have some questions... I really need your help! I did DAE in Civil and now i am doing B-Tech in Civil! And i am also doing an auto-cad course of 6months duration from nicon(because from the info i got, i was told that i must have a good grip on auto cad to work on etabs, safe and revit etc). I have no field experience or anything. I want to start my practical experience as a structural site engineer(if its possible in pakistan). I am preparing myself to move to uae as soon as i complete my b.tech hons degree and do ms in structural engineering from hariot watt university or any other good university. Can i get admission over there? And be able to register as an engineer. I have to do industrial training for my b.tech degree, should i start my job in uae and do it there and then come back to pakistan! Does the experience of pakistan also counts or am i just wasting my time here.. Are there any institutes etc in islamabad which offer etabs, revit and safe etc courses.? i just want to be prepared in advance soo that when i move to uae, i start my career as a structural engineer! Please guide me to enter this field! its my dream and i need some guidance thanks alot in advance
