  1. So I inquired about AutoCAD and Revit architecture course from an institute and according to them they were to provide me a certificate(of that institute stating that i took the course) along with an Autodesk certificate which would also cost me around 2k rupees. Is this autodesk certificate of any importance or is it just my understanding of the software? Is the autodesk certificate valid for a time period? if yes then how long? thnx
  2. Aoa, So i have seen many consulting services in Karachi that offer students the opportunity to study abroad, most commonly in the UK, US, Aus, Germany etc against a standard registration and processing fee. as much as I have heard, they usually help with the admission paperwork processing, visa, scholarships and accomodation abroad. the thing is that I would like to know more about such consulting services authenticity that what they offer is infact true or do students find it much hard and face problems than what was actually promised by these consulting firms? would appreciate to hear from forum fellows who are currently on student visa abroad who reached their respective destinations with the help of these consulting services. To be precise, I am looking for fellows reviews on postgraduate life as a student in Germany, who also contacted a consulting firm. Thanks!
  3. Yes that is exactly the sort of project I am looking for. would be of much help
  4. Aoa to fellow members, So I really need a sample/example/model project's designing and workings that include all the manual calculations, surveys, soil tests, foundation designs, formula's, drawings that could give me a clear vision of how a project is designed and executed from advent till end. May it be a simple project but would love for it to be a atleast double story. I know the companies refrain from sharing such data but still i really really need it to clear my concepts... Please share with me, would really appreciate it..... secondly I am really having trouble understanding the course of R.C.C, so is there a more simpler book than structural concrete or properties of concrete by Nadim Hasoum and A.M. Neville that could help me understand it? (or any websites?) Any help is appreciated... Thanks. waiting.
  5. is Revit Architectuture a software worth learning for civil engineers? does it holds demand? if yes then where? also can anyone suggest me few good softwares related to civil engineering, may it be related to structural engineering or general ones too?
  6. AoA everyone... I've got a question... The thing thats bothering me lately is that everyone says I should pursue a feild in which I've interest in, which I definitely agree with, but the problem is I dont know much about other fields except the one I have studied/heard about the most everywhere which is Structural Engineering, so THAT makes it the only field I have interest in without relating or comparing it with other fields. I am willing to know about other fields so that in the end I should have a pool of fields in my knowledge from which i can decide which one actually grabs my interest... I know I have tackled a lot of weird and bad teachers in my university who are either too old for teaching and bad at delivering knowledge and education which makes the subject they are teaching dull for us and I lose interest there (happened with teachers of courses: CV.Engg.Materials, Engg.Mechanics, Soil mechanics etc). so is there a way, website, method etc that gives to-the-point information about different fields in cv.engineering maybe few examples that might help me with deciding between the cross-roads? again, i am looking for something related to practical knowledge about fields and is not detailed so that i can take some time out of my busy schedule of studies+work to read it.... thanks i hope everyone can comprehend the nature of my problem here... :X
  7. Aoa, hello and thanks again mr.Waqas... @ Ayesha. Thanks and I definitely agree. I got 3.8 last sem. Guys please reply to questions from my last post so that I can post new ones Still waiting...
  8. Apologies for the late reply; Thanks a bunch Mr.Waqas and Mr.Uzair for your input. Mr. Waqas, thanks for relating your comment to engineering softwares since I feel thats the exact path I would like to choose after I complete my Cv.Engineering (Inshallah). Regarding the Internship, I already completed one this years summer and tried for the second at Bahria Town Karachi this winter but couldnt bag it (because i didnt had the 'source', you know how pakistan works ) or that would have been a great addition to my resume and experience. And I am currently in Sir Syed University. your comment definitely made some questions pop up in my brain: 1) Since you are a fresh graduate, as an example, I would like to know how do you like your new job? what do u plan to do for masters? 2) what would you say about the people who say ONLY fresh graduates from critically acclaimed universities are entertained with jobs in the professional life? 3) does GPA/CGPA matters alot for the job? Mr.Uzair Thanks a bunch for taking out time to reply to my post. I would definitely consider manual calculations. I would like to know, do the courses related to mathematics that I am/have studied till now, like numerical analysis, probability methods, etc come in use in the professional life? those formulas, tables and calculator functions? And lastly a general question would be, I plan to do masters from Australia and eventually work there (Inshallah) so is the scope for civil engineering good there? as I have generally heard everyone say middle east is the mecca for civil engineers... waiting eagerly for your sincere feedback guys. Shukriya P.S. I think this blog and the members here are awesome
  9. Aoa again thanks for replying back Mr. Umar Will sure bother you again when I have querries.
  10. Assalamo Alaikum brothers, I am studying civil engineering in a university in the city karachi and currently in 2nd year (4th semester). My classes usually take about 3 hours a day(working days only) on average and rest of the time I am idle/free. So I aim to utilize this free time into something that might prove fruitful in the forseeable future. Also, i get 2 month summer and 2 month winter vacation at my institute (2month winter vacations coming this december). So regarding this I would like some suggestions as what to do... what external monthly courses should I take whos certificates actually matter in professional life?... or maybe a part-time job in a firm or on the computer? or anything similar. In all honesty, I dont have any knowledge what the professional life is or what it requires and it sort of worries me. so any ideas/suggestion are welcome from my senior's in this forum. P.S. I already completed an internship in this year's summer. thanks.
