Please I need clarification with respect to British Standard and other codes, we have a ground beam in a raft foundation size is 1500x300 with about 1500 apron, most columns are 300x 600 and flush with the ground beam, we have about 10 columns which are 600 and 450 diameters, is this appropriate to use this column on this ground beam without increasing the with of the ground beam even though it passed, but the concern is the parts of the column that are not on the width of the beam but float, these occurs at interception, which implies for the 600diameter we have 50% of the cross section off the ground beam, we also have 450 diameter with 30% off can this be ignore ? If no what are the solution and kindly give code reference preferably BS code.
