Meshing is critical to carry out a finite element analysis as analysis is done on certain points (nodes/ mesh corners) and results are interpolated between adjacent nodes. Without meshing, results would be too vague. I have attached a document that explains the logic behind meshing and its affects on analysis. Please have a read.
