By hidden if you mean that the beams are of the same thickness as that of raft, then there is no beam action.
For a member to act as beam, it needs to be much stiffer than the supporting slab. I would say 2-3 times stiffer.
Thanks.
Please kindly assist with rigid raft with the slab directly on the beam and acting as the ground floor slab. How do we check for minimum deflection and also how to determine pressure underneath is below the soil BC. How do we do this in CSI Safe.
Thanks

What if the BC value is given in kN/m2 say 25kN/m2

Hi colleagues
Rigid Raft with beams with different column dimension?

Please I need clarification with respect to British Standard and other codes, we have a ground beam in a raft foundation size is 1500x300 with about 1500 apron, most columns are 300x 600 and flush with the ground beam, we have about 10 columns which are 600 and 450 diameters, is this appropriate to use this column on this ground beam without increasing the with of the ground beam even though it passed, but the concern is the parts of the column that are not on the width of the beam but float, these occurs at interception, which implies for the 600diameter we have 50% of the cross section off the ground beam, we also have 450 diameter with 30% off can this be ignore ? If no what are the solution and kindly give code reference preferably BS code.
