You can read conditions in which we may reduce live loads in attached document. When you will select reduceable live load in software, it will automatically reduce the live load according to the Code.
It is economical and logical to reduce live load in certain cases, read attached doc, because probability of occurrance of full live load in all floors at same time is very less. (see section 4.8)

well no one can give you each and every detail about how to model it. We can provide you with the basic guidelines and concept, provided that you have the background in using the appropriate options and commands in software. I know we all start learning from zero but you need some one who can train you step by step; may be in your office. I have downloaded your files and if possible i can give you files 2 hrs on weekend to make a tutorial for you! happy?

Because I am beginner user of SAP as compared to ETABs and SAFE.
I want to model attached dome on SAP. But for inclined column, I have to draw grid lines. How i draw.

Importing grids from CAD is easy. You can also define a cylindrical coordinate system and move its origin to where ever you like. I think you should attach an image of what you are trying to do. That would be the best thing.

you cannot directly do this! to have both the grid systems you need to first put the cylinderical grid then import from cad the other grid system. I am not sure but you can try this way!
What i do when i have this type of issue is that i dont use cylinderical grids. rather i just draw the grid lines in CAD explode them so that they are not arcs or polylines just simple straight lines. If i require some curve. i dont break that arc cz i know SAP/ETABS will break them in 24 pieces of smaller segments straight lines.

well i dont believe SAFE gives wrong results as compared with manual calculations.. and here im talking about SAFE 12

But you have to consider following things:-

    1) check the load size for perimeter calculation
    2) apply the correct parameter for location of column...For example if it is interior column , select the point goto Design>Punhcing Overwrites and make it interior

    3) Make correct cover settings. Goto Design> Design Preferences and put the correct cover and bar size
    4) Make sure you are familiar with the load combos for which you will design your structure or punching

After analysis, right click on the point of column you will see detailed calculations for punching and the governing combination. Make sure SAFE 12 is calculating the effective depth and the perimeter correct which will surely be correct if you follow above steps. You can also check punching calculations of other non governing combinations.

Well in SAFE the punching area is calculated based on the column or load size. When you are not placing any stiff section on the column center or the load size is not defined then you punchign area is reduced giving you more reinforcement. So when you put the right column or load size it gives you correct values of the punching!

when ever I draw model on safe v.8. If punching shear ratio of raft foundation exceed. for example: If punching ratio of column on raft foundation 30" thick is 1.6, then I draw an other 10'x10' slab with same property in 30" thick raft with 33" on that particular column which have punching ratio 1.6. It wil come to 1.3 punching ratio.. then 36" and 39", after that punching ratio will come below 1.
But when ever I remove 30" thick raft on that column then draw only 39" thick raft, i am facing same punching ratio problem. I did'nt understand what criteria SAFE is following..

it will help you grip better at ETABS in general. I presume you are in a design firm, this would be handy for you. See Section 5.2.2 of the guide. It has info you are looking for!

m_naeem_b reacted to WR1 in Csi (Etabs, Safe, Sap) Softwares Analysis Files Extensions
CSI (ETABS, SAFE, SAP) SOFTWARES ANALYSIS FILES EXTENSIONS

CSI (ETABS, SAFE, SAP) SOFTWARES ANALYSIS FILES EXTENSIONS
After running the structural models they create numerous analysis files with very strange file extensions. Here I am talking about CSI softwares; ETABS, SAFE and SAP. These analysis files contain information about matrices and analysis results.

More information about the file extensions can be found on CSI official webpage:
    https://wiki.csiberk...analysis models
    or
    https://wiki.csiberk... settings files
When sending the model files to someone you dont need all those temporary analysis files rather just 2 files; one model file and another its text file.
Why we need to delete the files? Well, one thing is there are lot of files which we dont recognize, and the major issue is they take too much of space. A single model may be upto 10MB or less or more, but after analysis, the folder size reaches sometimes upto 1GB, using hard disk resources. So its not wise to just leave them as is because once you have model file you can get the results on any machine after running it.
For example for a simple model!

An increase of about 62 times!Deleting the Files
    1) From program
To delete the analysis files of the model, there are many ways and techniques:-
Open the model, goto File>Delete analysis files>
There are 2 options; one for deleting analysis files of that model only and another to delete files of all the models in that specific directory. Here it can't delete the files of models in sub directories. Just imagine if you have a large project containing many buildings having at least 2 models, all in separate directories, so would have to open all of them one by one and delete files this way.
    2) Manually Deleting the Files
Another method is to search and delete the files yourself. Unfortunately, I could not find on internet a complete list of all the extensions of analysis files. So I just created sample files for each of the program and then converted by some means those extensions into a text file. I will for your convenience put all those extensions here.
So just goto windows search explorer and just copy paste the extensions text string the file name box of search window and delete all the files in one go.
If I have missed some extensions of mixed it with other programs, please correct me.
    3) The best method
While writing this article, I came across a very interesting method to do all that crap. There is file called Eat.bat in ETABS and SAP program files.

When I opened these files in MS DOS, I found out that this DOS files deletes all the analysis files in that directory and you can get the list of all the extensions of the files if you try to edit it. Well that would be the official extension list of analysis files from CSI. The extensions I published below were extracted by me so they miss some extensions. I will later update those.
This Eat.bat is found in ETABS and SAP folders but not in SAFE. I dont know why CSI people havent included this in SAFE.
So I came up with an idea to modify the program so that it can do following:-
    1) Delete all the analysis files, not just in that specific directory rather in all sub directories too and for all programs like ETABS, SAFE and SAP. I will just add all the extensions and a switch for deleting files inside other directories:-

    ERASE /S /Q *
This program can be downloaded from here.
Soon it will also be available in standard EXE format. Keep looking http://www.sepakistan.com/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/tongue.png
