can you share any reinforcement detailing of the above mentioned case?

HI EVERYONE, I need to know that how to model a beam in etabs, when slab on both sides of it is at different levels? for reference section of Beam is attached. Second question is, in this case do we need some special detailing if yes then what is it. THANKS

Hi All, I have a question regarding the concreting joint on site. The problem is strength of column is 5000 psi and strength of beam is 4500 psi. during execution joints are concreted with beams so practically i don't understand how to resolve this issue. please guide. Regards, Ahsan Ali

Does code recommends any minimum limit for bearing capacity if the bearing capacity of actual soil is known?

@Rana i want to understand how it matters?

Purpose of design strips in safe
Ahsan Kazmi replied to Naqash Ahmed Shah's topic in Foundation Design
In Safe if you choose finite elements methods to show reinforcement results. it show reinforcement as (in2/in). as we use this formula for spacing S=12 Ab/As. My question is should again multiply the result with 12 to convert in2/in to in2/ft? -
@ILYASweather you analyze it for 2D or 3D it doesnot matter.

Dear Waqar Saleem, Thanks for such comprehensive reply can you please elaborate how can i apply these two points in SAFE.
-
@Rana this is the screen shot of actual condition. Load path could not be changed bcz colums are provided on periphery.
-
@Rana i am using SAFE 14. Actually there is R C C Wall in boundary of structure and all columns are in periphery as well. So negative pressure in periphery is exceeding the allowable limit but i cannot increase area. So please suggest Solution.

BAZ how much localized bearing pressure is allowable?

These values helps to follow strong column weak beam philosophy. Secondly to avoid cracks.

I have modeled B+G+6 story in etabs and exported its base with 9" thick and 12 feet high RCC wall with option (export floor loads plus column and wall distortion). In Safe initially i defined raft and soil support properties. after analysis the minimum soil pressure was out range (7 ksf) while my allowable limit was 2.25ksf. Then i selected all the joint points of wall and assigned them fix supports the soil pressure suddenly reduced to almost zero value. Question is that which strategy of modeling is correct? Secondly when we export wall from etabs to safe its property changes to beam why this happens? Model is attached below. Raft 12.FDB

How to check the soil pressures in SAFE? What is difference between min and max pressures? and what is allowable limit?

What is difference between membrane, thin shell, thick shell and layered? when we assign slab section in etabs v16. sharing of any document regarding asked question would be appreciated.

What is the correct way to apply the partition load in Etabs when there is no beam under it? I have tried it by applying line loads but model gave warnings.
