I want to know the minimum bearing capacity value in TSF (before and after applying safety factor, considering safety factor 3) for construction of strip footing of double story house. Soil test was conducted, according to which, soil classification is (ML,CL) minimum SPT count was 8, minimum density was 115.84 pcf. Report used terzaghi equation, and Qa = 1.07 TSF using this equation. Then setellment is calculated as 9.37mm which is well within the allowable limit (25mm). Then suddenly a term "recomended allowable bearing capacity" appeared showing value of 0.38 tsf for strip footing and 0.6 tsf for raft. (Assuming safety factory of 3 I guess). Which type of foundation should i go for? Raft or strip? Expert openion is required....
