  1. i read it in "manual for the design of rcc building strcs" pg#17 n you are right it is UK published.you mean that short column and stocky columns both are exactly same ???

  3. this formula might be right sir but couldnt make the sense how a triangle is made out of spiral,perpendicular is made of pitch that makes sense but how pi*d is making the other perpendicular side ?

  8. i came to know in a book that in circular column there should be six bars used in minimum also one engineer said that according to ACI code six bars are required in a load bearing circular column .

  13. there isn't one designing which should be learnt there are many other aspects in civil engineering which could be shared,i suggested classes or meetings where different level professional can share there projects,problems and how they resolved them,i know very well that designing couldn't be taught
  14. no it was nt years they took 6months to plan and fabricate and mounted in 90 days!!!
  15. @aisha i dont think that sharing of knowledge or managing a class for juniors once a week is a big deal either you are in a design office or anywhere,a senior can just share the work he has been working at the time he has nothing to do extra !!!

I have an idea that if a seniors manage some weekly meetings on skype in which different topics are discussed !!! or there is a teaching site "wiziq"there lectures can be delivered free of cost and also can be recorded!!! i guess such activity can also help the freshers and engg students.so what wud seniors say about that suggestions

  18. how to assign supports in SAP2000???someone said that assign all supports fixed,there is no big difference?how to visualize the supports conditions and whether it really effect the analysis???
  19. can we make concrete completely damp-proof,as i have plans to make a lawn on the first floor top due to space shortage i m thinking to have it on the first floor is it feasible.????
  20. absorbtion test is made to check whether brick will allow the cement to hydrate completly or will absorb the water and leave the cement semi hydarted,i think even if bricks are used infill walls test is necessary otherwise cement will not stick to bricks and plaster it will spall off
